Bio
Hello, I’m Carrie Holley-Hurt (she/her/hers). I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in May 2024 with an MDiv and then was granted Preliminary Fellowship by the Ministerial Fellowship Committee. I was ordained by the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin and Live Oak Unitarian Universalist Church. During my seminary years, I completed my Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at Dell Seton in Austin and was the Intern Minister for Live Oak Unitarian Universalist Church in Cedar Park.
As the saying goes, I was not raised a UU but I got here as soon as I could. Since becoming a UU, I’ve been an active and involved leader at First UU of Austin leading efforts for UU the Vote and organizing in support of Transgender rights during the 2021 Texas legislative sessions. I continued my advocacy work as an intern with Live Oak advocating for the LGBTQIA+ community during the 2023 Texas Legislative Session. I will continue to work for a more just and loving world in all the places where our values and love are needed.
Before getting the call to ministry, I was a policy analyst for the Texas Legislature after earning my Master’s in Public Policy. I bring my experience working with the legislature and her passion for change into my ministry.
